In January 2031, the largest structure ever constructed by humans in space will come to an end. More than 32 years after its foundation stone was laid, so to speak, the International Space Station will abandon its orbit to partially burn up in the atmosphere and plunge into the Pacific Ocean. It will be the end of the greatest story of human cooperation in space, but perhaps also the beginning of a new space age.
