Today we begin a new series of collaborations in the blog from the contribution of six researchers from the E-SOST research group at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Spain) P: Dr. Victoria Labajo González (Coordinator), Dr. Paloma Bilbao Calabuig, Dr. Isabel Carrero Bosch, Estela Díaz Carmona, Dr. Amparo Merino de Diego and Dr. Carmen Valor Martínez.
The E-SOST group was set up in 2010 in order toaddress the problem of sustainability management from an economical, social and environmental standpoint, and is supported by the research background of its members, which to date have completed over 25 projects and published 150 papers including articles, technical documents and publications for national and international journals.
The group’s principles are:
- An attitude toward research that revolves around critical reflection on the challenges presented by sustainability
- Multidisciplinary approach, combining the areas of management, marketing, legal, CSR, etc.
- A vision, a way of working and a common academic reference from an international outlook, wit rigor and independence.
The main areas of research include:
- Sustainable management of the value chain
- Management and communication of social and environmental attributes
- Sustainability management in non-OECD countries
- Analysis of business policies and plans aimed at ensuring sustainability.
- Market incentives for sustainability: consumption and investment
- Incentives outside the market: public policy and civic regulation
In this framework the Group’s work has focused primarily around the lines of sustainability and consumption and responsible management of the supply chain.
Recent projects addressed include “The responsible consumption process: motivation, cognition and responsible consumer behavior in Spain” and “The consumer’s relationship with social and environmental labels. Diagnostic study to guide the definition of public policies and corporate action”.
For this 2012-13 course work will focus on the project “Expanding knowledge about responsible consumption: new players, new variables and new methodologies” promoted and funded by the university.
