Board member of the Central Bank of Chile. He previously worked in the BBVA Studies Service where, amongst other matters, he was responsible for creating and implementing the Global Trends Unit.
During the course of his career he has written articles and books on macro-economics, tax policy, pensions systems, economic growth and competitiveness, as well as on the economies of natural resources and, in particular, copper. At the end of the 90s, he was the National Budgets Manager of the Government of Chile. He holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, in addition to master’s and bachelor’s degrees at the University of Chile.
