Pablo Valdivia is the European Culture and Literature Chair Professor at the University of Groningen and Director of the Netherlands School for Literary Studies. He is also director of the Research Center Arts in Society, University of Groningen. Valdivia is Member Executive Committee Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture (ICOG); Director Winter School Imagining Southern Europe, University of Groningen-University of Valencia; Director Research Program Narratives, Crisis and Cultural Transformations at Centre of International Studies and Advisor PhD Program Estudios Interculturales y comunicación, Universidad de la Frontera, Chile; General Editor Series Hispanic Transnational Studies LIT Verlag; Advisor PhD Program Arts, Literatures and Cultures and Research Advisor Communication, Poetics and Rhetoric Research Group, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain.

He was President of the Steering Committee of the Horizon 2020 Excellent Science “Cultural Narratives of Crisis and Renewal” funded by the European Commission. Valdivia has been a guest professor at the universities of Antwerp, Madrid, Barcelona, Oxford, Cambridge, Neuchatel, Católica de Perú, Austral de Chile, Universidad de la Frontera, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Buenos Aires, Antioquia, Osaka. He is the author of more than 50 scientific publications has published including Sefarad (2013), José Ricardo Morales de Mar a Mar (2014), Spanish Literature, Crisis and Spectrality: Notes on a Haunted Canon (2018), among others. Valdivia is an expert in Cultural, Literary and Multidisciplinary Studies.
