Katie Blot

Katie Blot is the senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development for Blackboard. She drives the strategic planning process and helps set the direction for the company in order to fulfill Blackboard’s mission of reimagining education. To reimagine education, Katie and her organization are focused on assessing and evaluating industry trends, engaging with the education and education technology communities and identifying and executing strategic partnerships. Another key role of the organization is to incubate key initiatives targeted towards emerging needs in education.

Prior to joining Blackboard, Katie served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Federal Student Aid at the U.S. Department of Education. Prior to becoming CIO, Katie was the Deputy General Manager for the Application, School Eligibility and Delivery Services Unit. Prior to joining the Department of Education, Katie worked at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) in its higher education group.

Katie has almost 20 years of experience in the education industry, providing leadership in the business and technology realms. She understands how to realize the benefits of effectively aligning human capital, business processes and technology to achieve business objectives at educational institutions.
