Degree in biological sciences

He graduated in 1976 as a Bachelor of Biological Sciences, specialized in Marine Biology at the University of La Havana where he also took various Postgraduate courses and intensive English and French courses.

As a researcher in Cuba he received four national prizes “Forjadores del Futuro” and two National Prizes for Scientific Divulgation. He has worked as a researcher, teacher, journalist, writer or consultant in different instances in Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, United States and he has also traveled around almost all the Caribbean countries. He has participated with different papers in numerous scientific events. He has taught teaching, lectures, conferences, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Biology, Ichthyology, Fishery Techniques, Fish Biology, Ecology, Marine Ecology, Environmental Education, Environmental Conditioning, Cultural Tourism and Ecotourism.

He has worked for Research Institutions, International NGOs and Universities, such as School of MIP, Technical Training School “Alecrín”, Universidad de Oriente (Margarita, Vzla), La Salle Foundation for Natural Sciences (Margarita, Vzla), Universidad Simón Bolívar (Caracas, Vzla). He has published about 50 works in specialized magazines and more than 100 articles with informative character, especially in “Sea and Fishing”, “Sea and International Fishing”, “Bohemia” and “Marine Universe”.
