Janet Abbate

Profesora asociada del departamento de Ciencia y Tecnología de la Sociedad en la Universidad Politécnica de Virginia. Es licenciada en Historia y Literatura por Harvard-Radcliffe y doctora en Civilización Norteamericana por la Universidad de Pensilvania. Es autora de Inventing the Internet (MIT Press 1999) y de numerosos artículos sobre la historia de Internet. Como investigadora asociada en el Information Infrastructure Project del Kennedy School of Government de la Universidad de Harvard, coeditó (con Brian Kahin) Standards Policy for Information Infrastructure (MIT Press 1995). Sus otras publicaciones incluyen «Privatizing the Internet: Competing Visions and Chaotic Events, 1987-1995» (en Annals of the History of Computing, de próxima publicación); «Women and Gender in the History of Computing» (en Annals of the History of Computing, 2003); «Computer Networks» (en Atsushi Akera y Frederik Nebeker eds.). From 0 to 1: An Authoritative History of Modern Computing, Oxford 2002), y «Government, Business, and the Making of the Internet» (Business History Review, Harvard 2001).
